Hi, I am Callie!

Let me introduce myself!

My name is Callie Hicks Counsell and I started Calloway Photography, then known as Crooked C, right after my senior year of high school in 2016.

It all started as just a little camera from my parents to take pictures around our family farm. Soon, I realized I loved taking pictures of both livestock and people! I begged for a camera and lens upgrade and started taking our sale and donor pictures as well as senior photos for a few of my friends.

I graduated from the University of Kentucky in May 2020 and moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma that fall for graduate school. While there, I met my husband Derek and we got engaged! I graduated with a Masters in 2022 and moved to Iowa to start my new life. I married my husband on May 27, 2023 on the steps of my family home in Midway, KY. We currently live just outside of Des Moines with our Australian Shepherd, Bowman.

I love capturing true-to-color senior portraits, couples photos, family sessions, all while remaining true to my roots with livestock. While my 9-5 is a marketing project manager, I absolutely love working with clients around the country and I am ready to join you at your dream location.
